J Riley Beet Harvesters have completed a new 600 sq m servicing facility at their Attlebridge site, sufficient space to work on three harvesters simultaneously. The building will also house their sales and service offices.
The continued success of Vervaet as the UK's top selling beet harvesters, is due in no small part to the level of service provided by J Riley Beet Harvesters.
With the lifting campaign completed, the focus is on getting your machines booked for a full appraisal. This comprises a thorough front to back inspection of the machine from topper, lifter, turbines and ring trace to tank, hydraulics, transmission and controls, including depth control and steering. This takes up to 6 hours with a 25 page checklist and costs £200, refundable if the identified work and purchased parts exceed £1000. "Our fitters look beyond the obvious", says Harry Skeet, Riley's Service Manager, "their years of experience mean they know what to look for relative to the age of the harvester." Armed with a fully costed list of required work and parts, some users order the latter and find time to do the work themselves, usually the wearing parts. Most contractors, however, can find more profitable ways of occupying their staff and return their harvesters to Riley's state of the art servicing centre outside Norwich. "They realise the value of having their machines ready for another trouble free campaign", explains Harry.
Here the harvester is stripped down to its chassis, steam cleaned, repaired, re-sprayed where necessary, and rebuilt with new parts.
Hydraulics, gearboxes and controls are fully serviced
and re-assembled in the company's new 'white room' before the harvester is run up for half a day and tested. Finally the cab is valeted and a final steam cleaning given. In all this can take from 200 to 800 hours, according to the age of the machine, older harvesters usually demanding more work and therefore taking longer.
"We are servicing a variety of models, some having completed their first beet campaign and some dating
back to the mid-90s, concludes Harry, "Our aim is simple: to provide a cost-effective service that will minimise downtime and protect our customers' investment ."
We keep a comprehensive stock of Vervaet, Riecam and Moreau spare parts ready for despatch. Peter Smith is pleased to quote for all your spare parts requirements.
